O'Hara Irish Whiskey is a European market blend from Cooley in Co. Louth, one of the family of labels that carried the independent distillery's malt and grain whiskey across the Continent through the 1990s and 2000s. It is a no age statement bottling at 40%.
Ex-bourbon American oak sets a familiar and welcoming tone, vanilla, toffee and orchard fruit over honeyed malt, with the light grain keeping the texture soft. In the house style the double distilled malt adds a biscuity undertow, and the blend drinks simply and cleanly, a period piece from the era when Cooley whiskey wore a different name in nearly every market.
