O'Donnell Moonshine Aperitivo is a flavoured moonshine style liqueur from the German brand O'Donnell Moonshine, which builds a clear grain spirit into a wide range of flavours bottled in its trademark mason jars, an echo of the American Prohibition era. This expression turns the range toward the Italian aperitivo tradition, a herbal liqueur with the bittersweet, citrus led structure of a pre dinner drink rather than the brand's usual fruit and dessert flavours. It is bottled at 20%.

The nose is sweetish with citrus fruits and herbal notes, the palate balanced, bitter and sweetish with citrus and herbs over mint, anise, wormwood and gentian, finishing long on the palate. Behind the bar it brings a gentle bitter herbal backbone and a citrus lift, the foundations of the aperitivo style, which makes it a ready base for a spritz or an aperitivo over ice. Serve it well chilled before dinner or on a sunny afternoon, lengthened with sparkling wine and soda, or use a measure to add a bittersweet herbal edge to a cocktail.
