Description
O Reizinho Aged 3 Years is a pure cane juice rum from the small O Reizinho distillery on Madeira, one of the few places outside the French islands legally allowed the agricole name. Distilled on a column still from fresh sugarcane juice, it was matured in Madeira wood and bottled at 45%.
The Madeira cask gives a genuinely unusual profile. Popcorn, raisin, honey and artichoke open an offbeat nose, the palate brings roasted nuts, popcorn and dried grape notes, and the finish carries raisin, pear and burnt sugar. The wine influence reads as nutty and Madeirized rather than sweet, leaving it fresh and dry. This is a quirky, characterful aged agricole for drinkers who enjoy wine cask spirit and want something genuinely different, drinkable neat or with a splash of water.
