A single cask 33 Year Old Port Mourant marque off the Uitvlugt operation, Port-finished and bottled dry at 49.1%, with woody depth, citrus, liquorice, leather, dark chocolate and tropical fruit.
Description
Nobilis bottled this 1989 as a single cask drawing the Port Mourant marque from the Uitvlugt operation, named here as a classic old Guyana with three decades behind it. At a relaxed 49.1% and bottled unsweetened, it shows the deep, layered side of the double wooden pot still without overwhelming proof.
Matured in Port casks for thirty-three years, it rewards slow sipping with layered Demerara wood: chocolate, leather and black tea on the nose, then wood, black tea, leather and herbs on the palate, finishing on wood, tobacco, anise and a lift of tropical fruit. The lower strength keeps the alcohol seamless while the great age drives a long, woody-bitter finish. Some glue and liquorice round out the classic Port Mourant signature. This is a contemplative old Demerara for experienced drinkers who value depth and nuance over power.
