Nobilis Long Pond No. 29 LSO 2006

Nobilis Rum bottled this single cask Long Pond, distilled in 2006 and aged 16 years, in one of the distillery's quieter low-ester marques. Long Pond is best known as the funky Wedderburn house, but its lower marks like LSO show a drier, more restrained side of the estate.

Distilled from molasses on a double-retort pot still and matured in ex-bourbon wood, it offers dried fruit, apple, oak and vanilla on the nose, then dried fruit, banana, pepper and vanilla on the palate, finishing peppery, earthy and woody with a molasses edge. Bottled at a formidable 68.9% and unsweetened, the strength is well integrated and the profile leans toward chocolate, mint and light smoke rather than wild tropical fruit. This is a dry, structured Long Pond for experienced drinkers who appreciate well-aged, high-proof Jamaican rum with the funk dialled down and the oak and spice brought forward.
