A 29 Year Old Hampden HLCF at 60.2%, where high esters meet bright pineapple, citrus and banana funk over dry, roasty oak, an oak forward, well integrated take on long aged Jamaican rum.
Description
This single cask of Hampden carries the high ester HLCF mark, distilled in Trelawny in 1992 and bottled at 29 years and 60.2% by Nobilis. At nearly three decades and cask strength it is a mature expression of Jamaica's reference high ester house.
Pure pot still rum from molasses, it is built on Hampden's long wild fermentation and matured in Ex-Bourbon oak. The years have layered the esters with wood without dulling them: bright pineapple, citrus and banana funk lead, then a dry, roasty, barrel driven finish, with the high strength well integrated. Bottled unsweetened, it leans a touch drier and more oak forward than some of its 1992 siblings, a long aged Hampden for drinkers who want the funk framed by mature, toasty oak.
