Nobilis Foursquare No. 44 FS 2011

Nobilis Rum bottled this single cask Foursquare from the 2011 vintage, a 13 year Barbados rum drawn at cask strength. Foursquare, Richard Seale's St Philip estate, blends double-retort pot still rum with twin-column Coffey distillate and works without any added sugar, colour or flavour, so this is authentic, island-aged Bajan rum at full proof.

Matured in ex-bourbon oak, it delivers the estate's signature in a punchy frame: woody, caramel, vanilla and fruity notes on the nose, then a palate of roasted wood, sweetness and fruit, with vanilla, coconut, pineapple and red berries running through to a finish of oak, fruit, caramel and barrel spice. There is ginger and cinnamon in the mix, lending a harmonious, well-rounded character for a younger Foursquare. At 60.5% it carries real warmth and intensity, and it reads as a generous, characterful cask-strength sipper that offers strong value.
