Description
A Diamond carrying the Skeldon SWR marque, bottled by Nobilis Rum, distilled in 1997 off a column still and aged twenty-six years. Skeldon is the unicorn of Guyana, its original stills long lost and the marque now recreated on surviving column stills, which makes any SWR bottling a rare thing.
Matured in ex-bourbon oak and bottled unsweetened at 51.3%, it opens with a huge nose of caramelised coconut, coffee, dark chocolate and dried fruit, then turns woodier on the palate with mocha bitterness and roasted nuts. Dry and dark throughout, it sips beautifully at this strength and even holds up in an elevated cocktail. A coffee forward, characterful take on the Skeldon style, and a chance to taste a recreated lost-estate marque without reaching for five-figure originals.
