A 19 Year Old Clarendon at a fierce 67.2%, a tropically aged bruiser of tropical fruit, heavy wood, menthol and medicinal funk with a long finish, dry and at full power.
Description
Nobilis bottled this single cask of Clarendon carrying the MMW mark, a 19 Year Old from 2004 at 67.2%. Clarendon is a workhorse Jamaican supplier running both pot and column stills, and its pot still marks can be very funky, as this tropically aged, full proof release shows.
This is a dry, intense Jamaican bruiser. Tropical fruit sits against heavy wood, menthol, roasted notes and a medicinal, glue tinged funk, finishing long, spicy and hot at full strength. Tropical ageing in Ex-Bourbon oak has loaded it with extraction and structure, and at no added sugar it pulls no punches. One for drinkers who already enjoy big tropical aged Clarendon and other Jamaican heavyweights, best approached slowly and rewarded with menthol fresh depth once it opens.
