Nobilis Caroni No. 37 (10th Anniversary of Excellence Rhum) HTR 1998

Bottled by Nobilis Rum, this is a 25-year-old Heavy Caroni from the 1998 vintage, a single cask of the closed Trinidad distillery that ceased production around 2003 and whose finite stocks are now heavily prized. Matured to a full 62.8% and left unsweetened, it is firmly collector-facing and built for drinkers who already love the distillery's heaviest expressions.

The molasses spirit shows the archetypal HTR signature, tar, rubber, smoke and grilled wood on the nose, carried straight through the palate as rubber, tar, smoke and oil, with the finish holding woody, smoky, tarry depth. Dried fruit sits beneath the grime to keep it from reading one-note. This is the dirty, industrial Caroni style at older age and full strength, intense and oily, a benchmark heavy Trinidad rum for the seasoned palate.
