Description
No Name N° 3 CB (Compass Box) is a blended malt Scotch from Compass Box. It vats malts from several distilleries, Clynelish lending its waxy Highland texture. Clynelish sits on the North Sea coast at Brora, in the far north east of the Highlands.
Clynelish lends an oily, waxy Highland texture to the blend. A bourbon barrel held it, vanilla and a little coconut under the wax. The unpeated make leans on texture and citrus, the cask adding depth. The distillery was built in 1967 next to the original Clynelish of 1819, which was renamed Brora and later closed. The clean, oily spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and honey over the wax. Active wood frames the citrus without smothering the waxy texture. The slow loss of the angel's share concentrates the waxy, citrussy core over the years. Most of its make goes to blending, with a fourteen year old the flagship single malt.
At a hearty 48.9% it carries real weight. A waxy, oily texture runs through it, with citrus, honey and a coastal lift. The texture is thick and oily, the wax coating the palate. The finish is long, waxy and citrussy. A characterful blended malt Scotch.
