Description
No Name Blended Malt Scotch Whisky CB (Compass Box) is a blended malt Scotch from Compass Box. It brings together malts from more than one distillery, Caol Ila lending the peat. Long fermentations build the fruity, citrus notes that sit beneath the smoke.
Caol Ila's elegant smoke gives the blend its coastal, citrus edge. A second fill bourbon cask kept the oak in the background. Olive oil and lemon sit at the heart of the Caol Ila character. From a small Victorian works it grew into one of Scotland's biggest malt distilleries. Time in oak deepens the oily body while the maritime smoke stays bright. Smoked citrus and a saline minerality are the hallmarks of the make. Most of its peated malt is destined for the Johnnie Walker blends. Long ageing turns the young, sharp peat into a soft, coastal smoke. Cool, damp warehousing slows the loss of the angel's share over the years.
At 48.9%, undiluted, it is bold and clean. A coastal peat smoke runs through it, with lemon, brine and a soft oil over a sweet fruit. The texture is oily, the smoke threaded with citrus. Ash, lemon and brine draw out the close. A characterful smoky blended malt Scotch.
