Nixta Licor de Elote is a corn liqueur from Mexico, made at Destileria y Bodega Abasolo and bottled at 30%, a homage to the country's corn culture built on carefully selected matured corn, or elote. Where most liqueurs lead with fruit or herb, this one leads with the grain itself, drawing a natural sweetness and a distinct savoury corn character that few other bottles on a back bar can offer. It is a genuine novelty among sweet liqueurs.

The nose is rich sweet corn with vanilla and a hint of caramel, the palate full bodied and sweet with a clear corn note, subtle spice and a light buttery edge, finishing long and sweet with an almost syrupy texture over honey and oak. Behind the bar it brings sweet corn flavour, body and a soft sweetness, which makes it a creative modifier in agave drinks, an Old Fashioned riff or a coffee and chocolate serve where its corn note can sit against roast. Pour it over ice to show its texture, or use a measure to add a savoury sweet edge to a stirred cocktail.
