Description
Nikka Nine Decades is a no age statement blended whisky from Nikka, released in 2024 to mark 90 years since the company's founding in 1934. Bottled at 48% and released for an event market, it combines malt from Yoichi in Hokkaido, Miyagikyo in Miyagi Prefecture and Ben Nevis in Scotland, which Nikka has owned since 1989, drawing on Ex-Bourbon maturation.
The blend openly incorporates non-Japanese malt, framing the blend as a statement of Nikka's full international heritage rather than a purely domestic expression. Yoichi's kippery, smoky and leathery weight anchors the profile; Miyagikyo and Ben Nevis contribute the honey, citrus and green-fruit brightness; and the greenish, slightly herbaceous quality that appears in cask-strength bottlings adds a further dimension. The full-strength delivery at 48% ensures every element is present without dilution.
