Neisson MIZUNARA (Éleve Sous Bois) Batch 2 2023

Neisson is a small, much loved family distillery on Martinique with a devoted following, and this Mizunara is an élevé sous bois cane juice rum given a finish in Japanese mizunara oak, a rare touch for agricole. Made from fresh pressed sugar cane juice and bottled at a gentle 47.6%, it stays silky and approachable, a fine elegant neat pour.

Distilled on a creole column run low to keep the green cane congeners, then matured in oak with a delicate mizunara influence, it gains a soft, perfumed depth. The nose runs fresh sugar cane, citrus, pineapple and fruit, the palate keeps the cane going with allspice, pineapple and a fruity lift, and the finish turns to orange, white pepper, herbs and gentle oak. The mizunara adds a natural sweetness and a chamomile, floral perfume without overpowering the cane, making this a graceful, delicate agricole for slow sipping.
