Description

Neisson is a small family distillery in Martinique with a devoted following for its blancs, and Dekolaj is an unaged white pressed from fresh cane juice and bottled at full strength 52.5%. Made under the Martinique AOC, it carries no added sugar, so the roundness on the palate comes from the cane itself.

Distilled on a creole column kept low to preserve the grassy, vegetal congeners, it opens fresh and bright: sugarcane, citrus and a clean sweetness on the nose, lime, cane and honeyed fruit on the palate, then a fresh, spicy, intense finish. The texture is notably oily and the alcohol well integrated for the proof. It is at its best in a ti' punch, where the fresh cane and lime do their classic work, and stands up neat for those who like power.
