A 23 year old single cask Neisson from the 1994 vintage, tropically aged in ex-bourbon at 46.8%, rich and deep with vanilla, chocolate, coffee and coconut over a dark chocolate, cinnamon finish.
Description
Neisson Armada 1994 is a long aged single cask from the small Neisson family distillery in Martinique, a favourite working within the island's rum AOC, here released as a Velier bottling. Distilled from fresh cane juice on a column still, it spent 23 years maturing at origin in ex-bourbon wood before bottling at 46.8%.
More than two decades of tropical ageing give real depth while the strength stays gentle. Vanilla, oak and coconut open the nose over a vegetal base, the palate turns to sugarcane, chocolate and coffee, and the finish layers vanilla, cinnamon and dark chocolate. It stands apart from the distillery's other vintages with its own roasted, cocoa rich signature. A deep, mature single cask for drinkers who want aged agricole at its most contemplative, a slow pour that shows what long Caribbean ageing can do.
