Description
Ainnir, Gaelic for maiden, was the first single malt Nc’nean ever released, drawn in 2020 from five casks of its earliest 2017 spirit. Ten of the first bottles raised a record sum at charity auction. It set out the organic, net-zero house style from Annabel Thomas's distillery on the remote Morvern coast.
Matured across shaved, toasted and recharred red wine casks and ex-Bourbon, the young spirit took colour and flavour quickly, the recharred wine wood giving red berry and spice while the bourbon oak lent vanilla.
At 60.3% it shows a malty depth over red fruit, vanilla and citrus, undiluted. The whisky that introduced Nc’nean.
