Description
Escoda-Sanahuja, led by Joan Ramón Escoda and Mª Carmen Sanahuja, farms in D.O. Conca de Barberà in inland Catalonia, working from organic into biodynamic and now natural winemaking with no added sulphites. Nas del Gegant Rosado blends Grenache with Cabernet Franc, Carignan and Merlot from vineyards kept under a permanent cover crop, a practice that supports soil life and balances the vines naturally. The inland site sits at altitude, where cool nights against warm days hold acidity and aromatic freshness in the fruit. The wine ferments and rests eight months in stainless steel, a neutral vessel that keeps the fruit clean and direct while the extended lees contact adds a little texture, and it is bottled as a natural wine with minimal intervention. The colour is bright pink, the nose shows wild strawberry, cherry and white flowers over dried thyme, and the palate is dry, fresh and energetic, with red-berry fruit, a citrus-peel bite and a saline finish. Serve chilled at 8 to 10 degrees.
