N. Kroger released this Trinidad Distillers Limited single cask in its Wagemut line. TDL, the living Trinidad producer within the Angostura group, makes light column-still molasses rum, and this Angostura-sourced cask was bottled unsweetened at a hefty 62.8 percent. At 15 years from the 2007 vintage, it pairs that light base with serious proof.

Matured in ex-bourbon oak, it shows young wood, fruit, spice and vanilla on the nose, then a palate of spice, young wood, herbs and a clear sweetness, with plenty of vanilla through the close. There is a sweet, PX-like richness alongside fresh, open herbal notes that emerge once it breathes, atypical of the minty TDL register.
