Description
Château Musar was founded in 1930 by Gaston Hochar near Ghazir, half an hour from Beirut, and is now run by his grandchildren. Musar Jeune Rosé comes from the Bekaa Valley, one of the most fertile growing zones in the region, where the vineyards sit at altitude on gravel and limestone soils farmed organically. The elevation brings a wide diurnal range, with hot days and cold nights that slow ripening and lock in acidity, so the fruit keeps its freshness even in a warm climate. Cinsault and Mourvèdre are pressed and fermented cool to make a pale, dry rosé in a restrained, food-friendly register that reflects the family's Bordeaux training adapted to Lebanese conditions. The colour is light salmon, the nose offers redcurrant, cherry and white flowers over a thread of dried thyme, and the palate is dry and crisp, with red-berry fruit, a citrus-peel bite and a faint saline finish. Serve chilled at 8 to 10 degrees.
