Mount Gay 1703 Master Select is a Barbados rum from the island's heritage house at St Lucy, which dates its origins to a deed of 1703 and markets itself as the world's oldest commercial rum distillery. This is a 10 Year Old release from the 2018 bottling, made from Bajan molasses on pot and column stills and matured in ex-bourbon oak before bottling at 43%. The 1703 tier sits at the richer, pot-led end of the Mount Gay range. The Bajan house style is balanced and rounded, so expect toffee, ripe banana, vanilla and warm baking spice over light-to-medium oak, a refined sipping rum from a storied producer.
