Description
The Duchess, an independent bottler, bottles this 7 Year Old, a 2016 vintage from cask 216A, an outturn of 189 bottles. Mortlach, the first licensed distillery in Dufftown, runs a 2.81-times distillation and worm-tub condensers that give the heavy, meaty spirit fans call the Beast of Dufftown.
Seven years in a bourbon cask kept the bold, full-bodied make bold and spirit-led, low-tannin oak lending vanilla over the savoury core.
At 54.7% it shows honey, dried fruit and a leathery depth over the meaty Mortlach body, undiluted. Mortlach at full weight.
