Description
Signatory Vintage, one of Scotland's largest independent bottlers, bottles this 7 Year Old, a 2014 vintage from a small parcel of casks, an outturn of 920 bottles. Mortlach, long the muscular heart of the Johnnie Walker blends, draws its meaty depth from low-copper worm tubs and a 2.81-times distillation regime.
Seven years in ex-Bourbon left the meaty spirit forward, the charred oak filtering the sharpest sulphur while vanillin began leaching from the wood.
At 40% it shows vanilla, cooked fruit and a savoury weight over the meaty Mortlach body. A muscular Speyside malt.
