Description
From Adelphi, the esteemed independent revived in the 1990s, this 38 Year Old is a 1987 vintage from cask 1594, an outturn of 188 bottles. Mortlach, long the muscular heart of the Johnnie Walker blends, draws its meaty depth from low-copper worm tubs and a 2.81-times distillation regime.
Thirty-eight years in ex-Bourbon carried the muscular Dufftown spirit to a profound, savoury maturity, long oxidation bringing leather, beeswax, old wood and worn fruit.
At 45.9% it shows honey, dried fruit and a leathery depth over the full-bodied base, undiluted. Mortlach at full weight.
