Description
From Adelphi, the esteemed independent revived in the 1990s, this 36 Year Old is cask 2040, a 1986 vintage, an outturn of 176 bottles. Mortlach, the first licensed distillery in Dufftown, runs a 2.81-times distillation and worm-tub condensers that give the heavy, meaty spirit fans call the Beast of Dufftown.
Across thirty-six years heavy evaporation and slow oxidation concentrated the dense Mortlach spirit, leather and old-wood depth as the strength drifted lower.
At 51.4% it shows citrus, cooked fruit, dried fruit, fresh fruit, honey and a nutty depth, undiluted. Mortlach at full weight.
