Description
Adelphi, the esteemed independent revived in the 1990s, drew this 34 Year Old: a 1986 vintage from cask 2035, an outturn of 224 bottles. Mortlach, owned by John Walker & Sons from 1923, makes a dense, sulphury Speyside through worm tubs and its singular 2.81-times distillation.
Across thirty-four years heavy evaporation and slow oxidation concentrated the rich, meaty spirit, leather and old-wood depth as the strength drifted lower.
At 54.2% it shows citrus, undiluted. A muscular Speyside malt.
