Description
Adelphi, the esteemed independent revived in the 1990s, bottles this 33 Year Old: a 1989 from cask 6663, an outturn of 217 bottles. Mortlach's heavy, savoury style comes from worm-tub condensing and a part-triple distillation through the Wee Witchie, unchanged since 1897.
Across thirty-three years heavy evaporation and slow oxidation concentrated the oily, meaty spirit, leather and old-wood depth as the strength drifted lower.
At 48% it shows honey, dried fruit and a leathery depth framed by the dense Dufftown spirit, undiluted. Big, savoury and full-bodied.
