Description
Gordon & MacPhail, the Elgin house founded in 1895 and a long-standing Mortlach bottler, drew this 25 Year Old. Mortlach's robust, umami-rich spirit is the work of worm-tub condensers and the Wee Witchie's triple pass, a regime in place at Dufftown since 1897.
By twenty-five years the rich, meaty spirit had turned dense and leathery in the sherry, oxidation drawing out fig, date, walnut and dark chocolate.
At 46% it shows citrus, old wood, chocolate, cooked fruit and fresh fruit. Mortlach at full weight.
