Description
Gordon & MacPhail of Elgin, whose deep stocks include some of the oldest Mortlach in existence, drew this 25 Year Old. Mortlach's heavy, savoury style comes from worm-tub condensing and a part-triple distillation through the Wee Witchie, unchanged since 1897.
Twenty-five years in Oloroso built deep sherried maturity on the meaty frame, melanoidins and decades of oxidation giving dried fruit, leather and nuts.
At 43% it shows dried fruit, a sherried depth, cooked fruit, chocolate, citrus and fresh fruit. The savoury Dufftown style.
