Description
Ian Macleod Distillers, owner of Glengoyne and Tamdhu, bottling under its Chieftain's range, selected this 25 Year Old: a 1990 vintage from cask 5185, an outturn of 675 bottles. The first legal distillery in Dufftown, Mortlach builds its meaty weight through low-copper worm tubs and the 2.81 distillation, and has anchored Johnnie Walker for a century.
Across twenty-five years the Oloroso and a slow angel's share concentrated the robust Mortlach spirit into stewed dried fruit, chocolate and a leathery depth.
At 46% it shows chocolate, dried fruit and a nutty depth. Mortlach at full weight.
