Description
Morrison and MacKay, bottlers of the Carn Mor range, bottles this 24 Year Old, cask 4124, a 1995 vintage, an outturn of 251 bottles. Mortlach, owned by John Walker & Sons from 1923, makes a dense, sulphury Speyside through worm tubs and its singular 2.81-times distillation.
Across twenty-four years the refill oak gave less while oxidation and a slow angel's share concentrated the oily, meaty spirit into dried fruit, leather and an oily weight.
At 52.4% it shows cooked fruit and fresh fruit, undiluted. Big, savoury and full-bodied.
