Description
Spheric Spirits, an independent bottler, drew this 22 Year Old, a 1999 vintage, cask 3874, an outturn of 226 bottles. Mortlach, the Beast of Dufftown, condenses its spirit in worm tubs and part-triple-distils through the tiny Wee Witchie still, building weight and a savoury, sulphury core.
Across twenty-two years the refill oak gave less while oxidation and a slow angel's share concentrated the oily, meaty spirit into dried fruit, leather and an oily weight.
At 54.7% it shows fresh fruit, honey, an oily texture, citrus, glasshouse and leather, undiluted. Big, savoury and full-bodied.
