From Ian Macleod Distillers, owner of Glengoyne and Tamdhu, bottling under its Chieftain's range, this 22 Year Old is a 1990 vintage from cask 5159, an outturn of 654 bottles. Mortlach is the Speyside outlier known as the Beast of Dufftown, its worm tubs and 2.81 distillation building a dense, sulphury, meaty spirit.

Across twenty-two years the Oloroso and a slow angel's share concentrated the oily, meaty spirit into stewed dried fruit, chocolate and a leathery depth.

At 50% it shows old wood, chocolate, dried fruit, an oily texture, a sherried depth and a toasted note, undiluted. A Beast of Dufftown.
