From Samaroli, the storied Italian bottler founded by Silvano Samaroli in 1968, this 22 Year Old is a 1957 distillation, an outturn of 360 bottles. The first legal distillery in Dufftown, Mortlach builds its meaty weight through low-copper worm tubs and the 2.81 distillation, and has anchored Johnnie Walker for a century.

Across twenty-two years the refill oak gave less while oxidation and a slow angel's share concentrated the rich, meaty spirit into dried fruit, leather and an oily weight.

At 45.7% it shows chocolate, citrus, cooked fruit, fresh fruit, glasshouse and honey. Mortlach at full weight.
