Description
From Samaroli, the storied Italian bottler founded by Silvano Samaroli in 1968, this 19 Year Old is a 1997 vintage, cask 7203, an outturn of 330 bottles. Mortlach, the Beast of Dufftown, condenses its spirit in worm tubs and part-triple-distils through the tiny Wee Witchie still, building weight and a savoury, sulphury core.
Nineteen years in ex-Bourbon let oxidation gain weight, baked fruit and a waxy, oily depth building over the bold, full-bodied make.
At 45% it shows vanilla, cooked fruit and a savoury weight carried on the heavy Dufftown body. The meaty Dufftown style.
