Description
From Berry Bros & Rudd, an independent bottler, this 18 Year Old is cask 4126, a 1995 vintage. Founded in Dufftown in 1823, Mortlach owes its rich, meaty weight to worm-tub condensers and the unusual 2.81 distillation devised by Alexander Cowie.
Eighteen years in ex-Bourbon let oxidation gain weight, baked fruit and a waxy, oily depth building over the rich, meaty spirit.
At 54.2% it shows citrus, honey and an oak-framed depth on Mortlach's muscular frame, undiluted. A muscular Speyside malt.
