Description
From Van Wees, the Dutch house behind The Ultimate range, this 18 Year Old is a 1990 from cask 5961. Mortlach's robust, umami-rich spirit is the work of worm-tub condensers and the Wee Witchie's triple pass, a regime in place at Dufftown since 1897.
Across eighteen years the oak's ellagitannins added structure while oxidation deepened the meaty spirit into cooked fruit and leather.
At 46% it shows citrus, honey and an oak-framed depth over the full-bodied base. A muscular Speyside malt.
