Description
From Hidden Spirits, the independent bottler of single casks, this 17 Year Old is a 2002 from cask MR219, an outturn of 277 bottles. Mortlach, the Beast of Dufftown, condenses its spirit in worm tubs and part-triple-distils through the tiny Wee Witchie still, building weight and a savoury, sulphury core.
Across seventeen years the oak's ellagitannins added structure while oxidation deepened the meaty spirit into cooked fruit and leather.
At 55.5% it shows citrus and a hay-like note, undiluted. A muscular Speyside malt.
