Description
Morrison and MacKay, bottlers of the Carn Mor range, drew this 16 Year Old, a 1997 vintage, an outturn of 652 bottles. Mortlach's heavy, savoury style comes from worm-tub condensing and a part-triple distillation through the Wee Witchie, unchanged since 1897.
By sixteen years the bold, full-bodied make had turned oxidative, esters and acetals lending dried fruit and a savoury, oily weight beneath the vanilla.
At 46% it shows vanilla, cooked fruit and a savoury weight carried on the heavy Dufftown body. Mortlach at full weight.
