Description
Signatory Vintage, the Edinburgh independent founded in 1988, released this 15 Year Old, a 2008 vintage, a small parcel of casks. Mortlach's robust, umami-rich spirit is the work of worm-tub condensers and the Wee Witchie's triple pass, a regime in place at Dufftown since 1897.
By fifteen years Mortlach's weighty make had turned oxidative, esters and acetals lending dried fruit and a savoury, oily weight beneath the vanilla.
At 46% it shows citrus, honey and an oak-framed depth over the full-bodied base. A muscular Speyside malt.
