Description
Signatory Vintage, the Edinburgh independent founded in 1988, released this 15 Year Old, a 2007 vintage from cask 7, an outturn of 687 bottles. Mortlach's heavy, savoury style comes from worm-tub condensing and a part-triple distillation through the Wee Witchie, unchanged since 1897.
By fifteen years the meaty spirit had turned rich and oxidative in the Oloroso, raisin, walnut, chocolate and a struck-match savour.
At 51.8% it shows fig, date, leather and dark chocolate carried on the heavy Dufftown body, undiluted. A bold, sherried Mortlach.
