Description
UD - bottler, an independent bottler, bottles this 15 Year Old, a 2005 vintage, a small parcel of casks, an outturn of 202 bottles. Mortlach, owned by John Walker & Sons from 1923, makes a dense, sulphury Speyside through worm tubs and its singular 2.81-times distillation.
Fifteen years in Pedro Ximenez loaded the bold, full-bodied make with the sweetest sherry, residual sugars giving raisin, date and treacle over the meaty depth.
At 52.8% it shows raisin, walnut and a leathery, sherried richness on Mortlach's muscular frame, undiluted. Mortlach at full weight.
