Description
Van Wees, the Dutch house behind The Ultimate range, drew this 12 Year Old, a 2008 vintage from cask 800204, an outturn of 258 bottles. Mortlach is Speyside's great meaty malt, its 1823 Dufftown stillhouse using worm tubs and a 2.81 distillation that defies the region's lighter norm.
Twelve years in ex-Bourbon let oak meet weight, vanilla and honey from lignin and wood sugars settling over the dense Mortlach spirit.
At 46% it shows citrus. A Beast of Dufftown.
