Description
Van Wees, the Dutch house behind The Ultimate range, drew this 12 Year Old: cask 800202, a 2008 vintage, an outturn of 230 bottles. Mortlach, the Beast of Dufftown, condenses its spirit in worm tubs and part-triple-distils through the tiny Wee Witchie still, building weight and a savoury, sulphury core.
By twelve years the bourbon oak had knitted with the bold, full-bodied make, caramelised hemicellulose lending fudge alongside the savoury depth.
At 46% it shows malt, dried fruit and a leathery edge over the full-bodied base. The savoury Dufftown style.
