Description
From Van Wees, the Dutch house behind The Ultimate range, this 12 Year Old is a 2008 vintage from cask 800198, an outturn of 269 bottles. Mortlach, the first licensed distillery in Dufftown, runs a 2.81-times distillation and worm-tub condensers that give the heavy, meaty spirit fans call the Beast of Dufftown.
Twelve years in ex-Bourbon let oak meet weight, vanilla and honey from lignin and wood sugars settling over the bold, full-bodied make.
At 46% it shows citrus, honey and an oak-framed depth over the full-bodied base. The savoury Dufftown style.
