Description
Signatory Vintage, the Edinburgh independent founded in 1988, selected this 11 Year Old: a 2010 from cask 11, an outturn of 682 bottles. The first legal distillery in Dufftown, Mortlach builds its meaty weight through low-copper worm tubs and the 2.81 distillation, and has anchored Johnnie Walker for a century.
Across eleven years the Oloroso butt loaded the heavy spirit with date, raisin and a nutty edge, weight and sherry meeting head on.
At 57.7% it shows raisin, walnut and a leathery, sherried richness carried on the heavy Dufftown body, undiluted. Big, savoury and full-bodied.
