Description
Lombard, an independent bottler, released this 11 Year Old, a 1990 vintage, cask 1655. Mortlach, the Beast of Dufftown, condenses its spirit in worm tubs and part-triple-distils through the tiny Wee Witchie still, building weight and a savoury, sulphury core.
Across eleven years in American oak, esterification got underway and the meaty spirit rounded, vanilla and light toffee folding in.
At 50% it shows vanilla, cooked fruit and a savoury weight on Mortlach's muscular frame, undiluted. A muscular Speyside malt.
