Description
Langside Distillers, an independent bottler, released this 10 Year Old, a 2009 distillation, an outturn of 375 bottles. Mortlach's heavy, savoury style comes from worm-tub condensing and a part-triple distillation through the Wee Witchie, unchanged since 1897.
By ten years the bourbon oak had knitted with Mortlach's weighty make, caramelised hemicellulose lending fudge alongside the savoury depth.
At 46% it shows honey, dried fruit and a leathery depth on Mortlach's muscular frame. The savoury Dufftown style.
