Description
Moon-Import, an independent bottler, released this 10 Year Old, a 1989 vintage, an outturn of 1,065 bottles. Mortlach, the first licensed distillery in Dufftown, runs a 2.81-times distillation and worm-tub condensers that give the heavy, meaty spirit fans call the Beast of Dufftown.
Ten years in ex-Bourbon let oak meet weight, vanilla and honey from lignin and wood sugars settling over the dense Mortlach spirit.
At 45% it shows citrus, honey and an oak-framed depth carried on the heavy Dufftown body. A meaty, muscular Mortlach.
